Strudel with apples and raisins
INGREDIENTS: (1 large Strudel)
1 package Extra Fine Filo pastry KANAKI 450g
1 cup sugar
1 cup chopped walnuts
½ cup raisins
2 tsp. cinnamon
pinch nutmeg powder
½ cup beadcrumbs
1 cup melted butter
1 cup icing sugar
juice of 1 lemon
Peel the apples, remove the seeds, and slice. Place in a bowl and pour lemon juice over them to prevent them from turning brown. Add the walnuts, raisins, sugar, breadcrumbs, cinnamon, nutmeg, and mix. Prepare and bake the strudel in a preheated oven at 180°C for 40 minutes. When ready, remove from the oven and sprinkle with caster sugar.
For making Strudel:
1. Lay the pastry sheets on a clean surface. Brush each one with butter and place on top of each other.
2. Spread the apples mixture along one side and roll the sheets up, brushing the outer side of the sheets with butter as you roll them up.
3. Before you roll the sheets up entirely, fold the side edges of the roll inwards and continue rolling. Place the roll, rolled ends facing down, on a shallow baking pan and brush its outer side with butter.
